About this Food Blog

This food blog was started on 27 September 2006 as a diary for me to share my dining experiences with friends. Over the years, it has evolved into a hobby that allows me to express myself freely about my passion for food. I even made quite a few foodie friends through the blog! 🙂

To the readers and friends who have supported my food blog through the years and even sent me emails to ask me how I am doing when I seemed to have disappeared, I am grateful for your support. I hope you will continue to read my food blog and if I have yet to reply to your emails, do send them again because I may have missed them.

If you’re new to my food blog, I hope you will enjoy reading my food diary. Taste is subjective so my blog posts are purely based on my personal point of view, which is of course influenced by my preferences.

Gastronomic Ruminations moved from www.superfinefeline.blogspot.com to  www.superfinefeline.com on 28 July 2011 so do amend your bookmarks if it’s still pointing to the old URL.

SUPERFINEFELINE – How did I come up with this moniker?

I’ve often been asked about my moniker. It was a nickname that was given to me by a close friend many years ago because apparently, my movements whether walking or sitting were quite cat-like. When I signed up for my Blogger account, I didn’t realise that the ID that I had chosen for myself would wind up becoming the URL for my blog. When I realised what had happened, I figured that my friends would laugh it off anyway. While selecting a blog name, I overcompensated with yet another mouthful, Gastronomic Ruminations, to make up for the frivolous-sounding ID and URL that I had set up.

About Me

I love to travel and to discover new cultures & cuisines. I’m not a huge fan of desserts BUT I have a massive weakness for dark chocolate. I love to cook for friends and family as it’s a great way to destress.

I’m a caffeine addict and must have my caffeine fix on a daily basis. I love animals and adore my dogs, especially my affectionate Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Mocha. He was named after my favourite coffee drink at that time. He passed away in at the end of August 2012 at the age of 12.

  1. Hi Karen,

Apart from Jamie Oliver (one “gimmick” cook I truly dislike…) we have lots and lots in common foodwise.
Your Asian section is extremely impressive and would deserve French translation and exposure to a French public.
Your European/French section is a bit on the weak side. I’d love to contribute with a number of classics : ratataouille, tete de veau vinaigrette, blanquette, roti de porc aux pommes, boudin aux morilles etc…

    All the best

    Christophe

  2. Hi Christophe,

Thanks for your comment. I’m not sure if I ever told you guys that the entries on my blog represent at best 5-10% of what I’ve eaten because I really didn’t have much time or energy to blog. Some of the places that I mentioned to you are not to be found on this blog.

Thanks for contributing the names of classics…would be nice if you could start a blog on French classics and I can link you up on my Blogroll.

    Avec mes meilleures souhaites!
    Karen
